Commentary
Jesus claims that He cannot make claims about
Himself because His testimony would not be valid. It would
be akin to people today who claim to be the second coming of
Jesus. Their testimonies are invalid without something
else to back it up.
Jesus had John the Baptist who testified about
Him but He acknowledged that all human testimony was flawed
because anyone can make any claim.
What truly verifies that Jesus is who He claims
is the fact that He does the work of God the Father. This
is the only way that one can tell if a Christian is genuine or
not as well. A true Christian will do what God asks of
them. Jesus is who He claims to be because He does the
work of God the Father.
