The Ascension

Commentary

Luke does not give us much detail on the ascension in his gospel.  He gives greater detail in his continued historical account in Acts 1.

The disciples were previously told not to leave Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes upon them.  While we are told that Jesus ascended from Bethany and that the disciples returned to Jerusalem we should note the proximity of the two locations were obviously close as were many other towns in relation to Jerusalem.
